Yyteri Lahti

Yyteri Lahti is a sheltered bay located on the Finnish west coast, characterized by a gently sloping sandy beach backed by dense coniferous forest. The spot faces west into the Gulf of Bothnia, providing protection from full ocean fetch. Scattered rocks and boulders are distributed throughout the shallow nearshore zone, requiring careful navigation and reducing space for maneuvering. The spot is best suited for beginners and early-intermediate riders due to minimal wave height (0.4m average) and protected bay conditions. However, wind reliability is notably low at 18.6%, making consistent sessions difficult. When wind is present, northerly winds (0°) provide ideal side-shore conditions for the west-facing beach. The shallow water and rocky obstacles demand good spatial awareness and board control. Cold water temperatures (6.7°C average) necessitate thick wetsuits year-round. Limited beach access points due to forest density may create congestion during rare optimal wind days. Best visited during autumn and winter months when wind frequency increases slightly.
