Flat Top

Flat Top is a northeast-facing beach break located on the New South Wales coast, featuring a sandy beach bordered by dense bushland and residential development. The spot is characterized by a wide sandy beach with a lagoon system visible inland, providing some protection from extreme ocean conditions. Wave heights average 1.37m with generally small swell. The spot experiences very low wind reliability (0.5%) with average winds of 4.5 knots, indicating this is a marginal wind location. Best conditions occur with northwesterly winds that provide side-shore access. The relatively flat water conditions and protected beach setting make this suitable for beginner-level kiters practicing fundamentals. Key considerations include the shallow lagoon area which may present obstacles, the rocky headland visible at the southern end requiring awareness, and the proximity to developed areas limiting launch zones. Access appears available through the developed areas on the left side of the beach. This spot is best suited for light-wind conditions and skill development rather than advanced riding.
