Gokova

Gokova is a sheltered bay located on Turkey's southwestern Aegean coast, characterized by very shallow, flat water conditions. The bay faces westward with a visible breakwater system providing coastal protection. The spot offers minimal natural wave generation due to its protected geography and low average wave heights of 0.20m. Wind reliability is extremely low at 0.4%, with average winds around 4 knots, making consistent session planning difficult. The shallow water and breakwater infrastructure present navigation hazards. This location suits absolute beginners or those practicing light-wind techniques, as the protected, calm conditions eliminate power and wave management challenges. The flat water allows focus on fundamental skills without wave interference. However, kiters should be aware that sessions will be rare and conditions borderline for sustained kitesurfing. Best winds would approach from the north (side-shore), though such conditions are infrequent. This spot is better suited for learning basics rather than progression or performance riding.
