Oualidia Lagoon

Oualidia Lagoon is a protected coastal lagoon in southwestern Morocco, separated from the Atlantic Ocean by natural rock formations and sandy barriers. The lagoon entrance is marked by distinctive rock outcrops that break wave energy, creating sheltered conditions inside. The water body offers a semi-enclosed environment with variable depths and tidal influence. The lagoon's main advantage is wind consistency from northerly to northeasterly directions, which provides side-shore conditions for the main launch area. The shallow, enclosed nature makes it accessible for beginners, though tidal currents at the entrance require awareness. Wave exposure is minimal inside the lagoon due to the natural breakwater. The spot's low wind reliability (14.1%) and modest wave heights (1.83m average) make it better suited for flat-water training and progression rather than wave riding. Local residential areas and infrastructure limit access options. Best conditions occur during high tide when water depth is adequate throughout the lagoon.
