Playa Amarilla is a north-facing beach break located on Chile's Pacific coast near Iquique, positioned adjacent to an active industrial port facility. The spot features sandy beaches backed by arid desert terrain with minimal vegetation. Water conditions are rough with modest 1.6m average wave heights. The spot faces significant challenges: extremely low wind reliability at 0.4% makes consistent sessions unlikely, and average wind speeds of 4 knots are below functional kitesurfing minimums. The proximity to port infrastructure creates boat traffic hazards and limits safe riding zones. Shallow areas near the shoreline and visible rocky sections require cautious navigation. Best wind would come from the east (side-shore), though such conditions rarely materialize. The cool water temperature (17.4°C) necessitates appropriate thermal protection. Playa Amarilla suits only dedicated local kiters willing to wait extended periods for usable conditions, or as a secondary option during rare favorable wind events.
