Santa Susanna & Pineda

Santa Susanna and Pineda comprise a developed coastal beach break located on the northwestern Mediterranean shore of Spain, approximately 40km north of Barcelona. The spot faces southwest toward open water with a sandy beach protected by coastal infrastructure. This is an urban beach setting with significant residential and agricultural development inland, limiting wind acceleration and creating mechanical turbulence. Water conditions are generally flat with an average swell of 0.56m, making this suitable primarily for light-wind sessions. The extremely low wind reliability (1.4%) and modest average wind speed (5.4 knots) indicate this location is marginal for consistent kitesurfing. When conditions align, northeast winds provide the best side-shore approach. The shallow, sandy bottom and beach proximity suit beginners, but the lack of consistent wind makes regular progression difficult. Water temperature averages 17°C, requiring thermal protection most of the year. This spot works best as a secondary location or for flat-water practice sessions rather than a primary training destination.
