Chestermans Beach

Chestermans Beach is a crescent-shaped sandy beach on Vancouver Island's west coast, facing southwest toward the open Pacific. The beach is sheltered by rocky headlands to the north and backed by dense temperate rainforest. This is a beach break with moderate wave exposure and a sandy bottom that transitions to shallow tidal areas. The enclosed geography provides some protection but limits wind window options. Side-shore winds from the northeast (45°) would be ideal, though the area experiences low wind reliability at 4.6%. Average wave heights of 1.87m are modest, suited for intermediate kiters. Water temperatures around 9.8°C require proper thermal protection year-round. The rocky formations, tidal flats, and vegetation around the entry point require careful navigation. Strong local currents exist near the northern headlands. Best conditions occur during higher tides when beach width maximizes and tidal flats are submerged.
